A new office of Bangladesh Mailing Operator and Courier Service Licensing Authority was inaugurated on the third floor of the administrative office of GPO which is situated in the heart of the capital to lead the development of a vibrant, sustainable and successful courier service industry. Post and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated this office on Thursday afternoon.
Md. Mahbub-ul-Alam, Additional Secretary of Post and Telecommunication Division presided over the function as Office of the Director General of Bangladesh Post office, Md. Faizul Azim delivered welcome speech at the inaugural program. Md. Mohiuddin, chairman of the Mailing Operator and Courier Service Licensing Authority presented a power point on activities of Mailing Operator and Courier Service Licensing Authority.

Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications said while speaking as a chief guest in this auspicious event, that the era of letters is over, but as a result of the Digital Bangladesh program, endless opportunities have been created to develop postal services. With the expansion of digital commerce in place of sellers in the traditional marketing system, customers want to get their daily use products at home at the touch of a mobile button. As a result, the scope for development of the postal system has increased. To meet the challenges of the digital era, we are creating a road map for post office digitization to establish a postal system suitable for the digital era under the guidance of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The minister mentioned that it will be implemented very soon.
The minister emphasized the need to completely digitize the monitoring activities including the administrative system of the courier services, as a result of which the transparency and accountability of the mailing operators and courier services will increase and the nation will benefit.
The minister also said that under the direction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, 14 shorting centers are already being constructed and digitized for the postal system suitable for the digital age. I started the pos machine. At the same time, we have taken the initiative to introduce chilling vans in rail chilling coaches and other postal vehicles.
The pioneer of digital technology development, Mustafa Jabbar, pointed out the importance of digitizing the post office as a subsidiary of digital commerce and said that our biggest challenge was to take the distressed postal service to a better position as the era of letters ended. We have already achieved that.
He mentioned that no other institution in the country has the vast infrastructure and manpower of the countrywide post office. The Minister directed the concerned to formulate an appropriate action plan to strengthen the Mailing and Courier Service Authority and expedite its implementation.
